Happy hour and trivia. Our OpenTable listing, read September 28, 2026, gives the Park Slope happy hour as Monday to Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with $1.50 oysters and clams and $7 draft beers, plus a free trivia night on Thursdays at 7:30 PM. Happy hour starts when the doors open on those days, so a 4:00 PM arrival still gets three hours of it. On the regular menu oysters and clams are $4 each, six at least, so the happy hour price is well under half.
That is the Park Slope happy hour only. Our West Village room prints its own happy hour menu with different prices, and its window is not published yet. For the times and prices at nineteen other bars around here, see our guide to happy hour in Park Slope.
Ours is one of four oyster happy hours in Park Slope at about $1.50 an oyster, and the days, hours and limits differ a lot between them. Our guide to the oyster happy hour in Park Slope lines them up side by side, along with the bars that charge full price.
Getting here from Barclays Center and the subway
The walk from the Atlantic Avenue and Barclays Center station to the sports bar in Park Slope at 148 5th Avenue takes about nine minutes. Every route below was measured on foot in Google Maps on September 14, 2026, door to door from the station to the bar.
| Station | Lines | On foot | Distance | Route |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Union St | R | 6 minutes | 0.3 mile | 4th Avenue, then Douglass Street |
| Bergen St | 2, 3 | 8 minutes | 0.4 mile | South on 5th Avenue |
| Atlantic Av, Barclays Ctr | B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, 5 | 9 minutes | 0.4 mile | South on 5th Avenue |
The local mechanic worth knowing on an event night: the Atlantic Avenue side of the Barclays plaza is where the crowd collects, and 5th Avenue peels off the south corner of that intersection. Take the 5th Avenue exit rather than the Flatbush one and you are clear of the crush within a block, then it is a straight walk south to Douglass Street. Prospect Park, run by NYC Parks, is about a ten minute walk in the other direction.

What the room is like
Our sports bar in Park Slope is small, and that is the honest starting point. It is a converted auto garage: exposed brick, a corrugated metal bar front, chrome hubcaps and a working traffic light on the wall, a skylight, and a roll-up door that opens to the street when the weather allows. The room seats a neighborhood crowd rather than a stadium one.
Possible downside. On a big game night or when an event lets out at Barclays Center, the room fills fast and there is no large back area to absorb it. If you are bringing a group of more than six on a Saturday, call ahead or book through OpenTable rather than arriving and hoping. Bars closer to the arena on Flatbush Avenue have more square footage and more screens, and on a sold-out night that matters.
What is on the Park Slope menu

Why the Park Slope kitchen is gluten-free
The kitchen at the Park Slope location is 100 per cent gluten-free, which means there is no gluten in that kitchen to cross-contact with in the first place. It is not a separate fryer or a substitute bun on request. It is the whole food program at this Brooklyn location.
This applies to Park Slope, Brooklyn only. The Beer Garage in the West Village, Manhattan, runs a standard kitchen and its menu is not gluten-free. If you need a gluten-free kitchen, come to Park Slope.
Gluten-free at the Park Slope location means gluten-free in the sense set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration labeling rule, 21 CFR 101.91, which sets a limit of less than 20 parts per million.
Beer is a separate question. The food at the Park Slope location is gluten-free. Most beer is not, because most beer is brewed from barley or wheat. Ask the Park Slope bartender what gluten-free beer, cider or seltzer is pouring on the day you visit rather than assuming the taps match the kitchen.

WILD, our gluten-free sister restaurant next door
The bottom of our Park Slope menu carries one line people ask about: “Looking for a full dinner? Ask us for our Wild menu!” WILD is our sister restaurant, directly next door at 148 5th Avenue with its own entrance on 5th Avenue, while the bar door is around the corner on Douglass Street. Both menus are headed 100% gluten-free, so a group can split between wings at the bar and a sit-down Italian dinner next door without either kitchen cooking with gluten.

The honest split: come to the bar for the game, wings and a beer, and book WILD for a proper sit-down dinner, a date or weekend brunch. WILD’s menu adds 20% gratuity for parties of six or more. WILD calls itself the only 100% gluten-free Italian restaurant in Brooklyn; we have not checked that claim against every kitchen in the borough, so for the other options see our guide to gluten-free restaurants in Park Slope.
Watching the game at our sports bar in Park Slope
The sports bar in Park Slope shows a full sports line-up on televisions mounted around the room, and the bar pours rotating craft beer sourced from New York breweries. Because the taps rotate, what is pouring changes week to week, so there is no fixed list worth printing here. For the fifteen bars nearby that do publish theirs, see our Park Slope craft beer guide.

If you are coming specifically for one game, call 718-576-3409 and ask whether it will be on and whether the sound will be up. We would rather tell you honestly on the phone than have you walk over for a game we are not carrying. Private parties and watch parties at the Park Slope location are booked through the contact section on our homepage.

Private parties and group bookings in Park Slope
Two group packages for the sports bar in Park Slope are printed on our booking listing on PartyPlace, read September 28, 2026: a classic reservation of two hours for 6 to 15 guests with no minimum spend, and a full buyout of four hours for 20 to 60 guests from a $1,000 minimum spend. Requests on the listing come to us to approve; emailing BeerGarageBK@gmail.com or calling 718-576-3409 works just as well.
Because the room closes at 10:00 PM Sunday to Thursday and 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, a four-hour buyout should start by 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM. The listing prints two capacity figures, 8 to 50 in its header and 20 to 60 in the buyout package; until that is corrected, treat 50 as the safe ceiling. For how these terms compare with thirteen neighboring bars, see our guide to a good bar for a group birthday in Park Slope.
