The gate you leave by decides the bar.
A sports bar near Prospect Park, entrance by entrance: five bars, what each one says about sports on its own website, and walks we measured from three park gates.
- 10 minutes from Grand Army Plaza
- Walks measured September 24, 2026
- Every claim from the bar’s own website
- Open to 10:00 PM weeknights, 11:00 PM Fri and Sat
- Park Slope kitchen: 100 per cent gluten-free
Looking for a sports bar near Prospect Park is really a question about which side of the park you are on. The park is big enough that the bar one minute from one gate is more than twenty minutes from another, as the walks below show.
So this guide starts from the gates. We measured walks in Google Maps walking mode from three entrances on September 24, 2026, and read each bar’s own website the same day. Our own room, The Beer Garage in Park Slope, is the closest from Grand Army Plaza and one of the farthest from the south end, and the tables say so.
From Grand Army Plaza, the closest sports bars are The Beer Garage at 148 5th Avenue, 10 minutes on foot, and Finn’s Corner at 660 Washington Avenue, 11 minutes, which advertises 13 HD TVs and every sports package. From the Prospect Park West entrance at 3rd Street, Park Slope Ale House is 11 minutes away. At Bartel-Pritchard Square, The Double Windsor is across the street, though its own site does not mention sports.
Our Park Slope kitchen is gluten-free from end to end, fryer and buns included, so a celiac runner coming off the park loop can order anything. That is Park Slope only; the West Village kitchen is standard, and we did not check the other bars’ menus for gluten-free dishes.
The closest bar to each park entrance
Every walk below was measured in Google Maps walking mode on September 24, 2026, from the entrance named to the bar’s door. We did not estimate any of them.
| Park entrance | Bar | Walk | Distance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Army Plaza | The Beer Garage, 148 5th Ave | 10 minutes | 0.5 mile, via St Johns Place |
| Grand Army Plaza | Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Ave | 11 minutes | 0.5 mile, via Vanderbilt Avenue |
| Grand Army Plaza | The Commissioner, 247 5th Ave | 16 minutes | 0.8 mile |
| Prospect Park West at 3rd St | Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Ave | 11 minutes | 0.5 mile, via 3rd Street |
| Prospect Park West at 3rd St | The Commissioner, 247 5th Ave | 16 minutes | 0.8 mile |
| Prospect Park West at 3rd St | The Beer Garage, 148 5th Ave | 22 minutes | 1.0 mile |
| Bartel-Pritchard Square | The Double Windsor, 210 Prospect Park West | 1 minute | 128 feet |
The pattern is simple. From the north gate at Grand Army Plaza, we and Finn’s Corner are a near tie. From the middle of the west side, Park Slope Ale House is half our distance. From the southwest corner, The Double Windsor is on the same block.
What each bar says about sports
This table uses only what each bar publishes about itself, read on September 24, 2026. “Not named” means its own site does not mention sports, not that it will not put a game on.
| Bar | Neighborhood | Sports on its own site? | Published hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Ave | Prospect Heights | Yes: “ALL SPORTS PACKAGES”, 13 HD TVs, and it lists NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, NCAA and soccer | Mon to Thu 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM; Fri 2:30 PM to 4:00 AM; Sat noon to 4:00 AM; Sun noon to midnight |
| The Beer Garage, 148 5th Ave | Park Slope | “A full sports line-up”; no team claimed, no screen count | Mon to Thu 3:00 to 10:00 PM; Fri 2:00 to 11:00 PM; Sat 1:00 to 11:00 PM; Sun 1:00 to 10:00 PM |
| Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Ave | Park Slope | Not named on the pages we could read | Closed Monday; Tue and Wed 4:00 to 10:00 PM; Thu 4:00 to 11:00 PM; Fri noon to midnight; Sat 11:00 AM to midnight; Sun 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM |
| The Commissioner, 247 5th Ave | Park Slope | Not named by the bar; a customer review shown on its site mentions TVs and dart boards | Mon to Thu 3:00 PM to midnight; Fri to Sun noon to 2:00 AM |
| The Double Windsor, 210 Prospect Park West | Windsor Terrace | Not named; the site talks about its 14 draft taps | Bar noon to 2:00 AM daily; kitchen noon to 10:00 PM, to 11:00 PM on Fri and Sat |
One conflict to flag: Finn’s Corner’s visible hours say 5:00 PM on weeknights, while the machine-readable data on the same site says 4:00 PM. We have printed the visible hours; call (347) 663-9316 if an early weeknight start matters.
Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Avenue. The only bar on this page that calls itself a sports bar and publishes a screen count.
- Best for anyone leaving by Grand Army Plaza who wants every package and the most screens, with pool and darts in between.
- Skip if you want a weekday afternoon game; it opens at 5:00 PM Monday to Thursday.
Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Avenue. The closest bar we measured from the middle of the park’s west side.
- Best for a weekend game straight off a morning in the park; it opens at 11:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
- Skip if it is Monday. Its own site lists Monday as closed.
The Double Windsor, 210 Prospect Park West. Across the street from the Bartel-Pritchard Square entrance.
- Best for the southwest corner of the park, with the bar open from noon to 2:00 AM every day.
- Skip if you need a promise that the game will be on; its site does not mention sports, so call first.
Game times against opening times
A weekend afternoon in the park often ends with a game, so opening time matters as much as distance. On a Sunday, Park Slope Ale House opens at 11:00 AM; Finn’s Corner, The Double Windsor and The Commissioner at noon; and we open at 1:00 PM, which is when an early Sunday football kickoff usually lands in the East.
Monday is the odd day out. Park Slope Ale House lists Monday as closed, so for a Monday night game near the park the choice is Finn’s Corner from 5:00 PM, us from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM, or The Double Windsor from noon. For a game that runs past midnight, Finn’s Corner stays open until 4:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays and The Double Windsor until 2:00 AM every night.
Bars we left out, and why
Farrell’s Bar and Grill, at 215 Prospect Park West opposite The Double Windsor, is one of the best-known bars on the park, but we could not find a website of its own, so we cannot quote its hours or what it shows. Call before you go.
The Dram Shop on 9th Street showed us a bot check instead of its site on September 24, 2026, so it is left out rather than quoted from an older reading. Union Hall at 702 Union Street lists concerts and events on its own site, not games, so it is not a sports bar by its own description.
Our room, from the north end of the park
The Beer Garage Park Slope is at 148 5th Avenue, entrance on Douglass Street, 10 minutes on foot from Grand Army Plaza by way of St Johns Place. If you are coming out of the south or middle of the park, the tables above show that other bars are closer, and we would rather you knew that before you walk.
We do not claim a team and have never published a screen count; our website promises a full sports line-up. What sets the room apart is the kitchen: everything on the menu is gluten-free. For the full picture of the room, see our comparison of Park Slope sports bars, and for basketball nights, where to watch NBA in Park Slope.

Every bar on this page asks for ID showing you are 21 or older, so plan who takes the stroller home before you head in. Prospect Park’s roads carry cyclists and runners after dark too; take care crossing Prospect Park West.
Which bar for your gate?
Two questions, sixteen answers, all drawn from the tables above.
1. Which gate are you leaving by?
2. What matters most?
Finn’s Corner on a weekend, us on a weekday. Finn’s opens at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, 11 minutes from the plaza. On weekdays we open first, at 3:00 PM, 10 minutes away.
Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Avenue. Open until 2:00 AM on weeknights and 4:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, 11 minutes from the plaza.
The Beer Garage, 148 5th Avenue. Ten minutes from the plaza, and every dish on the menu is gluten-free.
Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Avenue. 13 HD TVs and all sports packages, by its own account.
Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Avenue. Eleven minutes from this gate and open from 11:00 AM on weekends. It is closed on Mondays.
The Commissioner, 247 5th Avenue. Sixteen minutes away, open until midnight Monday to Thursday and 2:00 AM Friday to Sunday.
The Beer Garage, 148 5th Avenue. The only fully gluten-free kitchen here, but it is 22 minutes on foot from this gate. Worth it if you need it; otherwise start closer.
Park Slope Ale House, then call. None of the bars near this gate publishes a screen count. The Ale House is the nearest at 11 minutes; call to ask what is on.
The Double Windsor, 210 Prospect Park West. Across the street, with the bar open from noon every day.
The Double Windsor, 210 Prospect Park West. Open until 2:00 AM every night, one minute from the gate.
The Beer Garage, at the other end of the Slope. Ours is the only fully gluten-free kitchen on this page. The Double Windsor serves food next to the gate, but we did not check its menu for gluten-free dishes.
Call The Double Windsor. It is the closest bar but does not publish a screen count or mention sports on its site.
Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Avenue. The earliest weekend opening we found, at 11:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Avenue. Until 4:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, the latest hours on this page.
The Beer Garage, 148 5th Avenue. A 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen, ten minutes from Grand Army Plaza.
Finn’s Corner, 660 Washington Avenue. The only bar here that publishes its screens: 13 HD TVs.
Use the tables above: from Grand Army Plaza, The Beer Garage or Finn’s Corner; from 3rd Street, Park Slope Ale House; from Bartel-Pritchard Square, The Double Windsor.
How we checked
On September 24, 2026 we measured each walk in Google Maps walking mode from the named park entrance to the bar’s door, and read each bar’s own website for its hours and anything it says about sports. Where a site would not load or a bar has no site, we said so instead of filling the gap from review sites.
No bar paid to be listed and none was visited for this page. Our own row is in the tables because it is ours, not because it ranks first.
Ten minutes from Grand Army Plaza
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217, entrance on Douglass Street.
Our Manhattan room is at 118 Christopher Street in the West Village, 646-490-4301; its kitchen is standard.
