Game Day · West Village, Manhattan · Updated October 2026
Daylight is our window, not primetime
Where you watch NFL football in the West Village should depend on your kickoff time, not on somebody’s ranking. The Beer Garage on Christopher Street covers every Sunday afternoon game and neither of its two published closing times reaches the end of a Sunday night one. Five bars within eleven minutes do.
- 118 Christopher Street, West Village
- 3 minutes from the 1 train
- Two published closing times that disagree
- Heated backyard garden
- Standard kitchen, not gluten-free
Every list that tells you where to watch NFL football in the West Village ranks rooms by vibe. Vibe is not the constraint. The constraint is arithmetic: the NFL runs the same handful of kickoff windows every week, West Village bars keep wildly different hours, and the only question that decides your night is whether the room you picked is still serving when the game ends. This page answers that window by window, using each bar’s own published hours and the league’s own schedule, and it is blunt about where our room at 118 Christopher Street stops being the right answer.
This page is the West Village part of the citywide guide to where to watch NFL football in New York. For team fan bars across the rest of the borough, see where to watch NFL football in Manhattan.
The short version
Short answer. For NFL football in the West Village, The Beer Garage at 118 Christopher Street is the daylight answer. Its two published Sunday closing times disagree, 10:00 PM ET on Google and 11:00 PM ET on the website, and neither one reaches the end of an 8:20 PM ET Sunday night game. Kettle of Fish, The Village Tavern and Down the Hatch all publish a 4:00 AM close.
That is the whole page in five sentences, and the rest of it is the evidence. Two things make it unusual to watch NFL football in the West Village rather than anywhere else in Manhattan. The first is that this is a late neighborhood: three bars inside a six minute walk of our door publish a 4:00 AM closing time, which is later than almost anything in Brooklyn. The second is that our own two published sources do not agree with each other, so on a Monday or Thursday night the honest answer is that you should call before you commit.
The one number that decides your night. An NFL game takes a little over three hours from kickoff to final whistle in a normal week. Subtract that from a bar’s published closing time and you know whether you are watching the end of the game or watching the staff stack chairs. Every table below does that subtraction for you, in Eastern Time, with the source and the date it was read.
Where to watch NFL football in the West Village, window by window
Here is what happens when you set the league’s recurring kickoff windows against the two closing times The Beer Garage publishes for the West Village. Google and the website footer have not agreed for some time, so both are printed rather than one being quietly picked.
| NFL window | Kickoff ET | Closes, per Google | Closes, per the website | Shortest gap after kickoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday early | 1:00 PM | 10:00 PM | 11:00 PM | 540 minutes |
| Sunday late | 4:05 or 4:25 PM | 10:00 PM | 11:00 PM | 335 minutes |
| Sunday night | 8:20 PM | 10:00 PM | 11:00 PM | 100 minutes |
| Monday night | 8:15 PM | 12:00 AM | 11:00 PM | 165 minutes |
| Thursday night | 8:15 PM | 12:00 AM | 11:00 PM | 165 minutes |
| Sunday from London | 9:30 AM | opens 12:00 PM | opens 1:00 PM | not open yet |
Read the bottom three rows again, because they are the reason this page exists. If you want to watch NFL football in the West Village on a Sunday afternoon, our room is open for all of it with hours to spare on either published source. If your game starts at 8:20 PM ET on a Sunday, 100 minutes is roughly halftime, and even the more generous website figure of 160 minutes runs out somewhere in the fourth quarter. A Monday or Thursday night game is the genuinely uncertain one: Google says the room goes to midnight, which covers the whole thing, and the website says 11:00 PM, which does not.

Six bars to watch NFL football in the West Village, by published hours
These are six neighboring rooms, listed by how far they are from our front door, with every fact taken from the bar’s own website on September 16, 2026. Where a bar does not publish something, the table says so rather than guessing. Three of them stay open five hours later than we do, and on a night game that is the only fact that matters.
| Bar | Address | On foot from our door | Published hours | Screens published | Food on its own site |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kettle of Fish | 59 Christopher St | 4 minutes | Noon to 4:00 AM, every day | Not published | None served, guests bring their own |
| The Village Tavern | 46 Bedford St | 5 minutes | Mon to Fri 4:00 PM to 4:00 AM; Sat and Sun 12:00 PM to 4:00 AM | Not published | Yes |
| Down the Hatch | 179 W 4th St | 6 minutes | Mon to Fri 2:00 PM to 4:00 AM; Sat and Sun 12:00 PM to 4:00 AM | Not published | Yes, wings and burgers |
| Houston Hall | 222 W Houston St | 9 minutes | Not published on its own site | 12 foot screens, count not given | Yes |
| Triona’s West | 237 Sullivan St | 11 minutes | Sun 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM; Mon 3:00 PM to 2:00 AM; Tue and Wed 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM; Thu 2:00 PM to 3:00 AM | 14 HDTVs | Not described on the page read |
| Reservoir | 70 University Pl | 16 minutes | Mon to Fri 12:00 PM to close; Sat and Sun 11:00 AM to close | Not published | Yes |
| The Beer Garage | 118 Christopher St | You are there | Google: Mon to Thu 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Sun 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Website: Mon to Thu 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Sun 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM | Not published | Yes, full menu |
Two honest observations about that table, and neither flatters us. Of the six neighboring bars you could watch NFL football in the West Village from, exactly two publish anything at all about screens, and only one of those, Triona’s West, publishes an actual number. We publish nothing, which is a gap on our side and not a secret. And Kettle of Fish, four minutes away on the same street, is the local answer for one specific fan: it publishes that Packers fans are always welcome and tells you to call for early opening times on Packers and Badgers game days. It serves no food, so people bring their own.
21+ with valid ID. Please drink responsibly. Hours, specials and what is pouring change; the New York State Liquor Authority sets the rules on what a bar may offer, and every bar above sets its own.
Our room, scored honestly
Here is The Beer Garage on Christopher Street measured against the job this page is about, which is whether you can watch NFL football in the West Village from kickoff to final whistle without moving. The subscores below come from the methodology box further down, and one of them is bad on purpose.
The Beer Garage, 118 Christopher Street. A converted-garage room with an enclosed, heated backyard garden behind it, a full kitchen, and a beer list of 37 lines on its own ordering page as of September 16, 2026, nine of them from New York State breweries.
Daylight windows 9/10. Open on both published sources before the 1:00 PM ET kickoff and hours clear of the 4:25 PM ET one.
Primetime finish 3/10. Neither published Sunday closing time reaches the end of an 8:20 PM ET game, and the two sources disagree about Monday and Thursday.
Published screen information 2/10. The bar publishes no screen count and no sound policy. A competitor eleven minutes away publishes fourteen.
Food during the game 8/10. A full kitchen with wings at $14 and the burger at $18 as of September 2026, which two of the six bars above cannot match and one cannot offer at all.
Best for: the Sunday 1:00 PM ET and 4:25 PM ET windows, a Giants or Jets game, a group that wants to eat properly during the game, and anyone who wants to sit outside in the heated garden in October.
Skip if: your game is Sunday night, you need a guaranteed screen count, or you want to close the place down after a Monday night finish.
Possible downside. The room is a neighborhood bar, not a barn, so it fills on a big Sunday. Our two published closing times disagree with each other, which is our problem to fix and not yours to guess about. And the kitchen at this West Village location is a standard kitchen, so it is not the room for a gluten-free guest.
Night games, Weeks 7 to 9
Anyone planning to watch NFL football in the West Village after dark needs these dates. These are the Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games of Weeks 7 to 9, pulled from the league’s own weekly schedule pages on October 20, 2026, with the network and the kickoff in Eastern Time. Broadcast windows flex from Week 5 onward, so re-check any date more than two weeks out.
| Week | Night | Game | Date | Kickoff ET | Network |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | Thursday | Patriots at Bears | October 22 | 8:15 PM | Prime Video |
| 7 | Sunday | Chiefs at Seahawks | October 25 | 8:20 PM | NBC |
| 7 | Monday | Cowboys at Eagles | October 26 | 8:15 PM | ESPN |
| 8 | Thursday | Panthers at Packers | October 29 | 8:15 PM | Prime Video |
| 8 | Sunday | Eagles at Commanders | November 1 | 8:20 PM | NBC |
| 8 | Monday | Bears at Seahawks | November 2 | 8:15 PM | ESPN |
| 9 | Thursday | Jaguars at Ravens | November 5 | 8:15 PM | Prime Video |
| 9 | Sunday | Buccaneers at Bears | November 8 | 8:20 PM | NBC |
| 9 | Monday | Bills at Vikings | November 9 | 8:15 PM | ESPN |
Now the local teams, which is the happier half of the story. Every Giants and Jets game in Weeks 7 to 9 kicks off at 1:00 PM ET on a Sunday: Giants at Texans and Dolphins at Jets on October 25, Raiders at Jets on November 1, when the Giants have a bye, and Giants at Eagles and Jets at Chiefs on November 8. Five straight local games in the one window this room covers completely, on both of its published closing times. If you follow either New York team, the calendar is on your side into November.
The 9:30 AM ET games from Europe
Two Sundays in Weeks 7 to 9 start with a game from Europe at 9:30 AM ET: Steelers at Saints in Saint-Denis on October 25 and Bengals at Falcons in Madrid on November 8. Nobody in this set of bars is open for kickoff. The earliest published Sunday opening among the seven rooms above is Reservoir at 11:00 AM ET, which is ninety minutes after the ball is in the air, and it is a sixteen minute walk from Christopher Street. The Beer Garage opens at 12:00 PM ET on Sunday according to Google and 1:00 PM ET according to the website footer.
That is not a comfortable thing for a bar to publish about itself, but it is the useful thing. If you want to watch NFL football in the West Village at a London kickoff time, you are watching it at home or somewhere else entirely, and then you are walking over for the 1:00 PM ET window. No list of the best bars in the neighborhood will tell you that, because no list subtracts an opening time from a kickoff time.
Gluten-free and the West Village kitchen
This matters enough to say plainly in the middle of a football page, because getting it wrong ruins somebody’s night.
Location notice. The kitchen at The Beer Garage in the West Village, at 118 Christopher Street, is a standard kitchen. Its menu does not label any dish as gluten-free. The 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen is the Park Slope location in Brooklyn, at 148 5th Avenue. If you need a gluten-free kitchen for a game, go to Park Slope in Brooklyn, not to Christopher Street.
The United States Food and Drug Administration defines gluten-free at under 20 parts per million in 21 CFR 101.91, and that definition is about food, not about a room, which is why this page names Park Slope rather than the brand. The West Village menu at 118 Christopher Street lists panko, brioche, hero rolls and flour tortillas, so treat that kitchen as a gluten kitchen. Beer is a separate matter again: most beer contains gluten wherever you drink it, including at the Park Slope bar whose food program is gluten-free. This page is not medical advice; if you have celiac disease, ask the staff directly and use your own judgment.
What to eat during the game
Food is the honest advantage this room has over the three bars that stay open until 4:00 AM, and it is the main reason to watch NFL football in the West Village from a table rather than a stool. One of them serves no food at all. These prices come off the posted West Village menu and are current as of September 2026.
| Dish | Price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Our Famous Garage Wings | $14 | One pound, double-fried, seven sauces including mango habanero |
| The Garage Angus Burger | $18 | Half pound, aged cheddar, bacon, onion rings, brioche, fries, coleslaw |
| Garage Stack Nachos | $17 | Chicken or seasoned beef |
| Crunch Pickles | $14 | Hand-breaded, double-fried, spicy aioli |
| Fresh Cut Potatoes, garage loaded | $14 | Cheddar, applewood bacon, chipotle ranch |
| Fresh Oysters from Maine | $3 each | Minimum six per order |
| The Fire Wrench | $14 | Two eggs, bacon, cheddar, jalapenos, brioche, served all day |

Both Beer Garage menus carry the standard advisory that consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness. The oysters are the reason it is printed.
Getting to Christopher Street
The single most useful local fact for anyone trying to watch NFL football in the West Village on a Sunday is that the 1 train puts you three minutes from the door, and the PATH from New Jersey puts you in the same place. Walking times below were measured in Google Maps walking mode on September 16, 2026.
| From | Type | Lines | On foot | Distance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christopher St-Stonewall | Subway | 1 | 3 minutes | 0.1 mile |
| Christopher Street | PATH | PATH from New Jersey | 3 minutes | 0.1 mile |
| W 4 St-Washington Sq | Subway | A C E B D F M | 7 minutes | 0.3 mile |
| Houston St | Subway | 1 | 8 minutes | 0.4 mile |
| 14 St-8 Av | Subway | A C E L | 13 minutes | 0.6 mile |
The local mechanic worth knowing: if you are coming from Midtown or Penn Station and the game has already started, the 1 train to Christopher St-Stonewall is the shorter walk, and the A, C or E to 14 St-8 Av costs you ten extra minutes on foot. Going the other way after a night game, the 1 runs all night, which matters if you have moved on to one of the 4:00 AM rooms.
Which bar to watch NFL football in the West Village tonight?
Two questions, sixteen answers for where to watch NFL football in the West Village, and most of them do not end with us. Pick your kickoff and the thing you care about most tonight.
1. Which kickoff are you watching?
2. What matters most tonight?
The Beer Garage, 118 Christopher Street. Full kitchen, wings at $14, and open before a 1:00 PM ET kickoff on both published sources. This is the window this room is built for.
The Beer Garage works. A 1:00 PM ET game finishes around 4:00 PM ET, which is at least six hours inside either published closing time. No clock on you at all.
Triona’s West, 237 Sullivan Street. The only bar in this set that publishes a number, fourteen HDTVs, and it opens at 1:00 PM ET on Sundays. Eleven minutes on foot from Christopher Street.
The Beer Garage or Kettle of Fish. We are three minutes from the 1 train at Christopher St-Stonewall. Kettle of Fish is four minutes and opens at noon, but serves no food.
The Beer Garage, 118 Christopher Street. A 4:25 PM ET kickoff ends around 7:30 PM ET, comfortably inside both published closing times, with the kitchen open the whole way.
The Beer Garage works. The late Sunday window is the second one this room covers end to end. The shortest published gap after a 4:05 PM ET kickoff is 335 minutes.
Triona’s West, 237 Sullivan Street. Fourteen HDTVs published, open from 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, and it goes to 1:00 AM, so a late afternoon game is never tight there.
The Beer Garage. Three minutes from the 1 train and open through the whole late window on both published sources. Down the Hatch, six minutes away, is the backup if we are full.
Eat here first, then move. Come at 6:30 PM ET, order the wings and the burger, watch the first half, then walk five minutes to The Village Tavern or six to Down the Hatch, both published to 4:00 AM, for the finish.
Down the Hatch, 179 West 4th Street, or The Village Tavern, 46 Bedford Street. Both publish a 4:00 AM close on Sundays and both serve food. Our room closes at 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM ET depending on which of our sources you believe, so the end of the game is not here.
Triona’s West, 237 Sullivan Street. Fourteen HDTVs and a 1:00 AM Sunday close, which covers a night game to the whistle. Eleven minutes on foot.
Kettle of Fish, 59 Christopher Street. Four minutes from us on the same street, open to 4:00 AM every night, and it publishes that Packers fans are always welcome. No food, so eat before you go.
Eat here, then decide. Google says we are open to midnight on a Monday or Thursday and the website says 11:00 PM ET. Call 646-490-4301 before you plan a full night around it, or eat at 7:00 PM ET and move on for the fourth quarter.
Down the Hatch, 179 West 4th Street. Published 2:00 PM to 4:00 AM Monday to Friday, so an 8:15 PM ET kickoff finishes with hours to spare. The Village Tavern from 4:00 PM is the same answer one street over.
Triona’s West, 237 Sullivan Street. Fourteen HDTVs, open to 2:00 AM Monday and 3:00 AM Thursday on its own published hours.
Kettle of Fish, 59 Christopher Street. Four minutes away, open to 4:00 AM, no food. If you want the walk and the meal in one place, come here first and eat before kickoff.
The same answers are in the table under Six bars, by published hours, which lists every published closing time in this set.

How we know this
Every number on this page about where to watch NFL football in the West Village came from one of three places, and none of them came from memory.
Kickoff times were read off the NFL’s official by-week schedule pages for Weeks 7 through 9 of the 2026 season on October 20, 2026, in Eastern Time, and each night game’s network is the national broadcaster for its window: Prime Video on Thursday, NBC on Sunday and ESPN on Monday. That matters more than it sounds: search panels render kickoff times in the reader’s own timezone, which is how a Sunday afternoon game ends up looking like a Monday game to anybody outside the United States.
Competitor hours, screen claims and food come from each bar’s own website, read on September 16, 2026, and nowhere else. Review sites and roundups were used to find which bars exist and were then dropped. Of the six neighboring bars, two publish anything about screens and one publishes a number, and four publish complete weekly hours.
Walking times are Google Maps walking mode from 118 Christopher Street on September 16, 2026, one measurement each, rounded to the minute as Google gives them. Our own hours are printed from two sources because those two sources disagree, and our own menu prices come from the posted West Village menu as of September 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I watch the football game in NYC?
In the West Village, six bars within a sixteen minute walk of Christopher Street publish that they show sports, and three of them publish a 4:00 AM closing time. The Beer Garage at 118 Christopher Street covers both Sunday afternoon windows. For a Sunday night finish, Down the Hatch, The Village Tavern or Kettle of Fish are open later.
Where can I see the NFL games today?
Check the kickoff time first, then the closing time of the bar you were planning on. Sunday afternoon games at 1:00 PM and 4:25 PM ET are covered everywhere in this neighborhood. A Sunday night game at 8:20 PM ET is only covered by the bars that publish a 1:00 AM close or later, which in the West Village means four of the seven rooms on this page.
Does The Beer Garage in the West Village show every NFL game?
The bar does not publish a screen count, a sound policy or a Sunday Ticket claim, so this page will not claim one on its behalf. What it does publish is a full kitchen, a heated backyard garden and a beer list of 37 lines. Call 646-490-4301 and ask about a specific game before you travel for it.
What time does The Beer Garage in the West Village open on a Sunday?
Its Google Business Profile says 12:00 PM ET and the footer of its own website says 1:00 PM ET, both read on September 16, 2026. Either way the room is open for a 1:00 PM ET kickoff, but if you want a table before the game, call ahead rather than trusting one source over the other.
Which West Village bars are open when a Sunday night game ends?
On published hours read September 16, 2026: Kettle of Fish at 59 Christopher Street and Down the Hatch at 179 West 4th Street both to 4:00 AM, The Village Tavern at 46 Bedford Street to 4:00 AM, and Triona’s West at 237 Sullivan Street to 1:00 AM on Sundays. The Beer Garage closes at 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM ET depending on the source.
Is the food at the West Village location gluten-free?
No. The kitchen at 118 Christopher Street is a standard kitchen, and no item on its menu is marked gluten-free. The 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen is at the Park Slope location in Brooklyn, 148 5th Avenue, which is a different room in a different borough. Anyone who needs a gluten-free kitchen should go to Park Slope.
Final verdict
If you want to watch NFL football in the West Village and your game kicks off in daylight, come to 118 Christopher Street. Both of our published sources have the room open before the 1:00 PM ET whistle, the kitchen runs the whole way through, the garden out back is heated for October, and every Giants and Jets game from Week 7 to Week 9 sits in exactly that window, which is the cheapest way to watch NFL football in the West Village well.
If your game kicks off at 8:20 PM ET on a Sunday, be honest with yourself and walk five or six minutes to The Village Tavern or Down the Hatch, both of which publish a 4:00 AM close. If it is a Monday or Thursday night game, call us first, because our own two published closing times do not agree and we would rather tell you on the phone than have you find out in the fourth quarter. That is the whole of it. A bar that only tells you the windows it wins is not telling you where to watch NFL football in the West Village, it is selling you a seat.
