Brooklyn lost its NHL team when the Islanders left Barclays Center, but it did not lose its hockey fans. The borough is split between Islanders people, Rangers people and a stubborn handful of Devils people, and no single bar suits all three. This guide to where to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn is organized the way the decision actually gets made: by team first, by neighborhood second, and by puck drop third.

Our own room is the Park Slope sports bar at 148 5th Avenue. The start time arithmetic for that one room, game by game, is in where to watch NHL hockey in Park Slope.

Short answer

To watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn as an Islanders fan, the team’s own Islanders Bar Network lists Irish Haven in Sunset Park, Kent Ale House in Williamsburg and Bull’s Eye Sports Pub on Flatbush Avenue, and says every network bar plays the Islanders game. For any team, The LayUp Bar in Park Slope and Kilo Bravo in Williamsburg name the NHL on their own sites. The Beer Garage at 148 5th Avenue suits 7:00 PM ET starts and weekend games.

The gluten-free part, scoped

Among the Brooklyn hockey bars on this page, one publishes a gluten-free kitchen, and it is ours: the menu header at 148 5th Avenue in Park Slope reads 100 per cent gluten-free, so every plate is covered. The beer is not, because most beer is brewed from gluten grains. Our second room, in Manhattan’s West Village, uses a standard kitchen. If you have celiac disease, speak to the staff and decide for yourself; nothing here is medical advice.

The short version, by team

The stance, in one line each

Islanders fans: go to a network bar. The team says the game will be on, which is a promise no other Brooklyn bar makes, ours included. Rangers and Devils fans: pick a bar that names the NHL, The LayUp Bar or Kilo Bravo, or call ahead anywhere else. Anyone near Park Slope for a 7:00 PM ET start or a weekend game: come to us; there are 180 minutes or more before we close. West Coast starts: not us. We close at 10:00 PM ET on weeknights.

The three official Islanders bars in Brooklyn

The Islanders run an Islanders Bar Network on the team’s own website. Its wording, read on September 18, 2026: “All bars in the Islanders Bar Network will be playing the Isles game.” The Brooklyn section listed three bars that day. If you want to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn and the Islanders are your team, this is the shortest list you will ever need.

Brooklyn bars in the official Islanders Bar Network, as listed on the New York Islanders website on September 18, 2026. Addresses as the team lists them. We did not visit these bars and we did not read opening hours on their own sites, so check before you travel.
Bar Address Part of Brooklyn Nearest subway
Irish Haven 5721 4th Ave, 11220 Sunset Park 59 St (N, R)
Kent Ale House 51 Kent Ave, 11249 Williamsburg Bedford Av (L)
Bull’s Eye Sports Pub 2073 Flatbush Ave, 11234 Flatbush Avenue, toward Marine Park Beyond the subway; plan a bus or a car

Kent Ale House’s own sports page adds that it can show “ALL soccer and rugby games as well as NFL, NCAA, NBA, and anything else you could possibly think of”, and gives a phone number for unusual requests. Irish Haven is seven stops down the R line from our nearest station, Union St, which makes it the closest network bar to Park Slope.

Brooklyn bars that name hockey on their own sites

For Rangers and Devils fans there is no team list to lean on, so the test is the same one we apply everywhere: does the bar say it in writing? These are the Brooklyn sports bars we read on September 18, 2026, and what each says about hockey.

Where to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn: what each bar’s own website says, read September 18, 2026, except The Dram Shop, reread September 25, 2026. “Not named” means the site does not mention hockey. All times Eastern.
Bar Neighborhood Hockey on its own site? Published weeknight close
The LayUp Bar, 47 5th Ave Park Slope Yes, NHL listed; nine screens with sound on 12:00 AM
Kilo Bravo, 180 N 10th St Williamsburg Yes: “we regularly show NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB”; 3 large TVs 2:00 AM
Kent Ale House, 51 Kent Ave Williamsburg Not named on its sports page, but in the Islanders Bar Network Not read
Clara’s, 53 Wilson Ave Bushwick Not named; lists NFL, MLB, UFC, NBA and Premier League; 14 TVs and a projector 4:00 AM
McMahon’s Public House, 39 5th Ave Park Slope Not named 2:00 AM
The Commissioner, 247 5th Ave Park Slope Not named by the bar; a customer review shown on its site mentions TVs 12:00 AM
The Dram Shop, 339 9th St Park Slope Not named 12:00 AM
The Beer Garage, 148 5th Ave Park Slope Not named; “a full sports line-up” 10:00 PM

Two honest observations. First, our row has the earliest close on the list, which is why the next section exists. Second, Clara’s publishes 14 TVs and a projector and still does not list hockey, which tells you how far down the pecking order the sport sits in most Brooklyn bars. Wherever you go, name the game when you call.

Five dates worth planning around

Dates and start times are from the NHL’s 2026-27 schedule data for the Rangers and Islanders, read on October 18, 2026 and converted to Eastern Time. The last column is subtraction: puck drop to our Park Slope closing time that night. Times can move for television.

Five early dates for anyone planning to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn in 2026-27. Source: NHL schedule data per team, read October 18, 2026. All times Eastern. The last column refers to The Beer Garage, 148 5th Avenue, Park Slope.
Date Game Why it matters Puck drop Minutes to our close
Thursday, October 22, 2026 Kings at Islanders National streaming only, on ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+ 7:30 PM 150
Saturday, October 31, 2026 Oilers at Islanders A 2:00 PM matinee 2:00 PM 540
Sunday, November 1, 2026 Oilers at Rangers The Oilers again, the day after their Islanders matinee, at the Garden 6:00 PM 240
Thursday, November 5, 2026 Flyers at Rangers; Hurricanes at Islanders Both teams play at once 7:00 PM 180
Saturday, November 7, 2026 Devils at Islanders Second meeting of two New York-area teams after October 6 7:00 PM 240

November 5 is the night when the team question bites: the Rangers and the Islanders both start at 7:00 PM. With two local games overlapping, a bar with one main screen has to choose, and an Islanders Bar Network bar has already told you which way it will go.

NHL hockey at The Beer Garage Park Slope

The Beer Garage is a converted garage at 148 5th Avenue, entrance on Douglass Street, with rotating local craft beer and the only gluten-free kitchen in this guide. If you want to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn over dinner, hockey start times suit our hours better than any other sport does.

The Beer Garage, 148 5th Avenue. Monday to Thursday 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET, Friday 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET, Saturday 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET, Sunday 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET. Wings at $14, a burger at $24.

  • Best for 7:00 PM ET weeknight games, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday game, and any table where someone cannot eat gluten.
  • Skip if the puck drops at 8:00 PM ET or later, or you need a written promise that your team’s game is the one on screen.
  • Possible downside we publish no screen count and no sound policy, and we do not claim a team. Call 718-576-3409 and name the game.

21 and over with valid ID

To be served alcohol in New York you need valid identification showing you are 21 or over, under rules set by the New York State Liquor Authority. Drink responsibly, and work out how you are getting home before the third period, not after it.

Getting from Brooklyn to the arenas

If you hold tickets, Brooklyn is a reasonable place to start the night. For the Rangers, the 2 and 3 trains run from Bergen St, eight minutes on foot from our door, to 34 St-Penn Station underneath Madison Square Garden. For the Islanders at UBS Arena in Elmont, the Long Island Rail Road leaves from Atlantic Terminal, nine minutes from our door; check the MTA trip planner for the Elmont-UBS Arena connection that night. Both walks were measured in Google Maps walking mode on September 14, 2026.

1. When does your game start?

Use the tables above: Islanders fans have three official network bars in Brooklyn, The LayUp Bar and Kilo Bravo name the NHL on their own sites, and The Beer Garage suits 7:00 PM ET starts and weekend games.

How we know this

How we know this

The Islanders Bar Network listing on this page about where to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn was read on the New York Islanders website on September 18, 2026, and the addresses are the team’s. We did not read opening hours for those three bars on their own sites, and the table says so. Kent Ale House’s sports wording is from its own sports page, read the same day.

The other Brooklyn bars were read on their own websites on September 18, 2026, except The Dram Shop, whose site refused our request that day; its row was reread and corrected on September 25, 2026. Game dates and start times are from the NHL’s 2026-27 schedule data for each team, read October 18, 2026, converted to Eastern Time and cross-checked where the two teams share a game. No bar was visited for this page and no rating of ours is implied. Minutes to close are subtraction, and ignore overtime.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn?

You can watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn at the three bars in the official Islanders Bar Network, Irish Haven, Kent Ale House and Bull’s Eye Sports Pub, and at bars that name the NHL on their own sites, The LayUp Bar in Park Slope and Kilo Bravo in Williamsburg. The team says all bars in the network will be playing the Islanders game. The list can change, so check the Islanders site.

Do the Islanders still play in Brooklyn?

No. The Islanders play home games at UBS Arena in Elmont, and Barclays Center no longer hosts NHL games. From Brooklyn the Long Island Rail Road runs from Atlantic Terminal; check the MTA trip planner for the Elmont-UBS Arena connection. The Rangers play at Madison Square Garden, above 34 St-Penn Station on the 2 and 3 trains.

When do the Rangers play the Islanders in 2026-27?

Four times. The first game was on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Madison Square Garden. The next three are Rangers at Islanders on Sunday, December 20 at UBS Arena, Islanders at Rangers on Friday, February 12, 2027 at the Garden, and Rangers at Islanders on Thursday, February 18, 2027 at UBS Arena, all at 7:00 PM ET, per the NHL’s schedule data read on October 18, 2026. The season itself opened on Tuesday, September 29, when the Rangers visited Boston at 8:00 PM ET.

Which Brooklyn hockey bar has gluten-free food?

Of the bars on this page, only The Beer Garage at 148 5th Avenue in Park Slope publishes a kitchen that is 100 per cent gluten-free, so wings, nachos, burgers and pizzas are all covered. Beer is mostly brewed with gluten grains, so ask the bartender what to drink. Anyone with celiac disease should discuss their needs with staff and use their own judgment.

The verdict

If you want to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn, start with your team. Islanders fans should use the bars the Islanders themselves list, because a promise from the team beats a guess from anyone else. Rangers and Devils fans should pick a room that names the NHL, The LayUp Bar in Park Slope or Kilo Bravo in Williamsburg, or call ahead. And if what you want is a 7:00 PM ET game over a proper dinner, with a kitchen where nobody has to ask about gluten, that is what 148 5th Avenue is for. We close at 10:00 PM ET on weeknights, and we would rather tell you that now than in the third period.
