Three NFL games on Thanksgiving Day, and most Brooklyn bars unlock their doors after the first one has kicked off.
Bears at Lions at 1:00 PM, Eagles at Cowboys at 4:30 PM and Chiefs at Bills at 8:20 PM, all on Thursday, November 26, 2026. We read 20 Brooklyn bars’ own websites on October 21 to see whose doors are open for each kickoff. None of them, ours included, had posted Thanksgiving hours yet, so this page works from the Thursday hours each bar prints and tells you so.

Thanksgiving is the one Thursday of the year when football starts at lunchtime. To watch Thanksgiving football in Brooklyn from the first snap, you need a bar that is already pouring at 1:00 PM on a weekday, and on a normal Thursday most of them are not. This guide lines up the three games against the hours each bar puts on its own website, with walking times from our door in Park Slope.
The holiday itself is the catch. A bar can open early, close early or shut for the day on Thanksgiving, and as of October 21, 2026 not one of the 20 sites we read had said which. So read the hours below as the starting point, and call before you leave the table. We will update this page when the bars post their plans.
Thanksgiving 2026 has three NFL games on Thursday, November 26: Bears at Lions at 1:00 PM on CBS, Eagles at Cowboys at 4:30 PM on FOX and Chiefs at Bills at 8:20 PM on NBC, all Eastern Time. Near Barclays Center, McMahon’s Public House, The Dram Shop and Oceans 8 Billiards print regular Thursday hours that open before the first kickoff; Rounders in Greenpoint opens on the dot of 1:00 PM.
No bar we read had posted Thanksgiving Day hours by October 21, 2026. Treat every time on this page as a Thursday time and phone ahead.
Of the bars on this page, only ours prints a menu under a 100% gluten-free heading, so wings, nachos and every other plate at The Beer Garage Park Slope are safe for a celiac guest. We have not published a Thanksgiving menu or holiday hours. On a regular Thursday we open at 3:00 PM, which fits the 4:30 PM Cowboys game from start to finish; call 718-576-3409 to check the holiday before you come.
The three Thanksgiving games, kickoff by kickoff
The matchups and kickoff times are from the NFL’s own Week 12 schedule page; the channels are from each home team’s schedule page. Both were read on October 21, 2026, and the NFL can still move a kickoff for television.

All three are on broadcast channels, so any bar with ordinary cable or an antenna can show them; no streaming service or out-of-market package is needed. The Cowboys list their game at 3:30 PM Central, which is 4:30 PM in Brooklyn. Neither New York team plays on the holiday: the NFL’s Week 12 page has the Giants at the Colts and the Jets at the Dolphins, both at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 29.

The pattern is plain. Only three rooms near us print a Thursday opening before 1:00 PM, and McMahon’s is the closest of them, seven minutes from our door and right by the arena. Everyone else opens at 3:00, 4:00 or 5:00 PM, which is fine for the Cowboys and the Bills and too late for the start of the Lions. If the 1:00 PM game is the one your family cares about, that short list is your list.
The Dram Shop has the most to say about its screens: its calendar page lists 8 TVs and a big-screen projector, and promises sound for playoff games. Oceans 8 lists 8 massive HD flat-screens plus 30 large TVs on its events page, alongside its pool tables.

Four sports bars further north print their hours too. Rounders is the only one that opens in time for the first kickoff.

Rounders adds that it takes no table reservations for games, so on a holiday afternoon the early arrivals get the seats. Roebling Sporting Club describes 14 large HD screens and Clara’s 14 TVs and a projector.
Thanksgiving hours: what has been posted so far
Nothing, as of October 21, 2026. We searched each bar’s home page, and the hours, events, calendar or FAQ page where we found one, for Thanksgiving, and no holiday hours turned up. Three details are worth knowing anyway.
- The Dram Shop tells you where to look. Its FAQ says special holiday hours go on its Google Business page, that weekday lunch is not served on holidays, and that brunch runs from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on weekends and holidays.
- The Dram Shop’s calendar skips the day. It lists Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27, with nothing on Thursday, November 26. That may simply mean the page is not finished, so ask.
- Two sites showed us nothing. Black Horse Pub’s website blocked our visit and Park Slope Ale House’s page loaded without any text. Kilo Bravo in Williamsburg prints no hours on its page.
We will read these sites again in the week before Thanksgiving and change this page if anything moves.
The night before and the day after
The holiday is wrapped in two more games, both on streaming services rather than broadcast channels.
- Wednesday, November 25: Packers at Rams, 8:00 PM ET on Netflix, per the Packers’ own schedule (7:00 PM Central). The Dram Shop, whose FAQ names the Packers among its home teams, lists it on its calendar as a Thanksgiving Eve showcase, yet the same page says it does not show games on streaming services. Ask which is right before you count on it.
- Friday, November 27: Broncos at Steelers, 3:00 PM ET on Prime Video, per the Steelers’ schedule.
A bar that only carries cable can show all three Thursday games and still miss these two, so ask about Netflix and Prime Video by name.
Our Park Slope room on Thanksgiving, honestly
The Beer Garage Park Slope is at 148 5th Avenue, with the entrance on Douglass Street. On a regular Thursday we open at 3:00 PM and close at 10:00 PM, and our website has not announced different hours for Thanksgiving. If those hours hold, here is the arithmetic: we open two hours after the Lions kick off, the Cowboys game has 330 minutes between kickoff and closing time, and the Bills game gets 100 minutes before we close.
So we are the right room for the middle of the day, not the whole of it. Watch the late-afternoon game over a gluten-free dinner, then walk five minutes to Uncle Barry’s or eight to Fourth Avenue Pub if the night game is still close at ten. Call 718-576-3409 before the holiday; that is the only way to know our Thanksgiving hours until we post them.
Four picks for four parts of the day

Oceans 8 Billiards, 308 Flatbush Avenue. Eleven minutes from us.
- Best for a group that wants a screen per game: 38 by its own count, from noon on Thursdays.
- Skip if you want a quiet holiday drink; it calls itself Brooklyn’s number one adult playground.
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue. Our own room.
- Best for Eagles at Cowboys with a fully gluten-free kitchen, from a 3:00 PM opening on a regular Thursday.
- Skip if you need the 1:00 PM kickoff or the end of the night game; we are not open for either on a normal Thursday.
Fourth Avenue Pub, 76 4th Avenue. Eight minutes from us.
- Best for Chiefs at Bills to the last whistle: open until 4:00 AM on Thursdays.
- Skip if you are coming for the Lions; its Thursday hours start at 4:00 PM.
Three games can stretch from lunch to near midnight, and the holiday puts a lot of people on the road. Every bar here serves alcohol, so bring a photo ID showing you are 21 or older, pace the rounds with food and water, and settle the ride home before the night game starts.
Before you go: five checks
- A Thursday is not a holiday. Every time on this page is a regular Thursday time. Confirm the Thanksgiving hours by phone or on the bar’s own channels.
- Ask about 1:00 PM by name. Even a bar that opens early may start late on a holiday morning.
- Ask which game gets the sound. A room full of Eagles fans and Cowboys fans, with one main screen, has to pick a side for the speakers.
- Streaming is separate. The Wednesday game is on Netflix and the Friday game on Prime Video; a cable-only bar may show neither.
- Arrive before kickoff. Rounders says outright that it takes no reservations for games, and a holiday crowd fills seats early.

How we checked
On October 21, 2026 we read the NFL’s Week 12 schedule page for the matchups and kickoffs, then the schedule pages of the Lions, Cowboys, Bills, Packers and Steelers for channels and local times. We opened the websites of 20 Brooklyn bars, the sports bars from our other Brooklyn football guides, and copied the Thursday hours and address each one prints; we also searched each home page, and the hours, events, calendar or FAQ pages we found, for Thanksgiving. Walks were measured in Google Maps walking mode from 148 5th Avenue the same day.
It does not know any bar’s Thanksgiving hours, because none had been published when we checked. It is not based on visits, and it does not promise what any screen will show on the day.

To watch Thanksgiving football in Brooklyn from the first kickoff, start with McMahon’s Public House by Barclays Center, then The Dram Shop and Oceans 8, the only rooms near Park Slope that print a Thursday opening before 1:00 PM; north of there, Rounders opens right at kickoff. For the Cowboys game with a gluten-free dinner, come to us at 148 5th Avenue. For the Bills at night, Uncle Barry’s and Fourth Avenue Pub stay open long past the final whistle. And because none of these bars had posted holiday hours by October 21, phone ahead whichever you choose.
