Ten kitchens, one question: what does a wing cost?
The best bar snacks and wings in Park Slope, compared from each kitchen’s own menu: the price of a single wing, the sauces, the sharing plates and how late each door stays open.
- Ten menus read September 25, 2026
- Wings from $1.60 to $2.33 apiece
- Walks measured from 148 5th Avenue
- Prices before tax and tip
- Park Slope kitchen: every plate gluten-free
Ask for the best bar snacks and wings in Park Slope and you usually get a list of names. We wanted numbers. On September 25, 2026 we read the menus of ten kitchens within a 40 minute walk of our bar, ours included, and divided each wing price by the number of wings the menu promises.
Four of the ten do not print both a price and a count, and we are one of them, so those cells are left empty rather than guessed. Our own room, The Beer Garage in Park Slope, wins on one thing: the whole kitchen is gluten-free. On price and on sauces, the tables below point elsewhere.
The cheapest wings at a Park Slope bar are at Freddy’s Bar, 627 5th Avenue: six for $10, about $1.67 each. Bonnie’s Grill, a restaurant at 278 5th Avenue, goes lower by the twenty, $32 or $1.60 a wing. Drums & Flats at 56 5th Avenue has the most sauces and sells up to 100 wings at once. For bar snacks from a fully gluten-free kitchen, it is The Beer Garage at 148 5th Avenue, $14 for wings.
Every plate that leaves the kitchen at 148 5th Avenue is gluten-free, wings, calamari and nachos included; the printed menu is headed “100% gluten-free”. That covers our Park Slope food and nothing else: most beer is brewed from barley, so ask about drinks at the bar, and our West Village kitchen on Christopher Street is a standard one.
On the nine other menus, the only gluten-free labels we found were a sweet potato snack at The Double Windsor and a bread swap and a blondie at Bonnie’s Grill; none of them covers the wings.
Best bar snacks and wings in Park Slope, priced per wing
Each row comes from the kitchen’s own menu, read on September 25, 2026. The per-wing figure is plain division, the printed price over the printed count, before tax and tip. Walking times are from our door at 148 5th Avenue, measured in Google Maps walking mode on the same day.
| Kitchen | Walk from us | Wings as printed | Per wing | Sauces |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Beer Garage, 148 5th Ave | You are here | $14 a plate; no count printed | Not printed | 3: BBQ, buffalo, mango habanero |
| Drums & Flats, 56 5th Ave, next to Uncle Barry’s | 6 minutes, 0.3 mile | 10 for $19, 20 for $36, 50 for $90, 100 for $175 | $1.75 to $1.90 | 6, with buffalo in three heats up to ghost pepper |
| The LayUp Bar, 47 5th Ave | 6 minutes, 0.3 mile | 4 wings, or an 8-piece sampler of every flavor; no food prices online | Not printed | 4: bourbon BBQ, lemon pepper, honey bourbon, buffalo heat |
| McMahon’s Public House, 39 5th Ave | 7 minutes, 0.3 mile | 6 for $14, 12 for $24 | $2.00 to $2.33 | 3: buffalo, teriyaki, chipotle BBQ |
| The Commissioner, 247 5th Ave | 7 minutes, 0.3 mile | A buffalo wing basket, $12; no count printed | Not printed | 1: buffalo |
| Bonnie’s Grill, 278 5th Ave, a restaurant | 8 minutes, 0.4 mile | 5 for $10, 10 for $18, 20 for $32 on its website | $1.60 to $2.00 | Buffalo in four heats, BBQ, a sauce of the day |
| Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Ave | 16 minutes, 0.7 mile | 6 for $14, 12 for $24; $12 at happy hour | $2.00 to $2.33 | 3: buffalo, BBQ, jerk |
| The Dram Shop, 339 9th St | 19 minutes, 0.8 mile | 4 for $9.25, 6 for $13.50, 10 for $21.95 | $2.20 to $2.31 | 4: BBQ, buffalo, sweet and spicy soy-ginger, mango habanero |
| Freddy’s Bar, 627 5th Ave | 29 minutes, 1.2 miles | 6 for $10 | $1.67 | 2: buffalo, hoisin BBQ |
| The Double Windsor, 210 Prospect Park West | 39 minutes, 1.7 miles | Organic wings, $11 to $15; no counts printed | Not printed | 1: honey sriracha |
Three things stand out. The cheapest printed wing at a bar is at Freddy’s, $1.67 each, though it is the second longest walk on the list. On every menu with more than one size, the larger orders work out cheaper per wing than the smallest; the biggest drop is at Bonnie’s, from $2.00 to $1.60 at twenty.
Only Drums & Flats sells more than twenty at once. And McMahon’s and Park Slope Ale House print identical prices, $14 for six and $24 for twelve.
Two notes on fairness. Bonnie’s Grill is a restaurant that serves beer, not a bar, and the prices above are the ones on its own website, which says they are lower than on other online ordering sites. McMahon’s also posts a separate Barclays Center event menu that lists its wings at $12 and $22, so on an arena night, ask which menu is running.
Which wing for which night
No kitchen wins every category, so here is where four of them are strongest, using only what each one publishes. The wider case for each room on game nights is in our comparison of Park Slope sports bars.
Drums & Flats, 56 5th Avenue. The wing specialist on the stretch near the arena, six minutes from us.
- Best for a crowd: 50 wings for $90 or 100 for $175, in six styles from lemon herb to pok pok. Its own sports page lists three screens, one of them a projector in the backyard, and the DirecTV NFL package.
- Skip if you want an early weekday plate; it opens at 4:00 PM Monday to Friday.
Freddy’s Bar, 627 5th Avenue. The lowest printed price per wing at a bar.
- Best for six buffalo or hoisin BBQ wings with gorgonzola for $10, any time from noon to 4:00 AM, every day.
- Skip if you want the game on. Its calendar is music, comedy and burlesque, and it is 29 minutes on foot from us.
Park Slope Ale House, 356 6th Avenue. One of three Park Slope happy hours that print a wings price; the other two are in our guide to happy hour in Park Slope.
- Best for $12 wings from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday to Thursday and from noon to 6:00 PM on Friday, with tater tots and fried pickle chips at $5 each.
- Skip if it is Monday, when the Ale House is closed, or after 10:00 PM, when its kitchen stops.
The Beer Garage, 148 5th Avenue. Ours, and the only kitchen on the list that is gluten-free from end to end.
- Best for a table where someone eats gluten-free: wings in BBQ, buffalo or mango habanero at $14, with nachos, calamari and a sampler from the same kitchen.
- Skip if you want the price of a single wing before you order, since our menu does not print a count, or you are eating after 10:00 PM on a weeknight.
Nachos, cheese curds and sharing plates
Wings are half the order. These are the snacks that turn up on several menus, grouped so you can compare like with like. A blank description means the menu lists the dish without one.
| Snack | Kitchen | Printed price | What the menu says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nachos | The Dram Shop | $9.25 small, $16.95 medium, $22.95 large | Ball Park nachos: queso, refried beans, pico de gallo, jalapenos |
| Nachos | The Commissioner | $12 | Tater Totchos: crispy tots, queso, salsa, cilantro |
| Nachos | McMahon’s Public House | $14 classic, $16 Irish | The Irish version is built on waffle fries |
| Nachos | Park Slope Ale House | $14 | Homemade tortilla chips, crema, refried beans, two salsas |
| Nachos | The Beer Garage | $21 | Chicken, avocado, beans, jalapeno, mozzarella |
| Cheese curds | The Double Windsor | $10 | |
| Cheese curds | The Dram Shop | $11.95 | Fried, with chili-ranch dressing |
| Mozzarella sticks | McMahon’s Public House | $12 | With marinara |
| Mozzarella sticks | Park Slope Ale House | $12 | With marinara |
| Mozzarella sticks | The Beer Garage | $16 | |
| Sharing platter | McMahon’s Public House | $26 | Build your own from three of: wings, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, potato bites; not on event nights |
| Sharing platter | The Beer Garage | $36 | Fried pickles, calamari, French fries and chicken fingers with different sauces |
| Sharing platter | The LayUp Bar | Not printed | The All-Star Board: three sliders, fries and a soft pretzel |
| Fries | Park Slope Ale House | $7 | Hand cut |
| Fries | The Double Windsor | $8 | Hand cut, with garlic aioli |
| Fries | Drums & Flats | $9 | With chili mayo; cheese fries cost $5 more |
| Fries | The Beer Garage | $10 | Parmesan or truffle oil, $2 each |
Two details worth knowing. The Dram Shop’s own site says kids eat free on Saturdays, which helps if the snack run includes children. And The LayUp publishes a full snack list without a single food price, so call (347) 677-3112 if the number matters to you.
Our Park Slope snack menu, plate by plate
Here is the small-plates side of our Park Slope menu exactly as printed. Everything comes out of one gluten-free kitchen, which is why there is no separate gluten-free menu to ask for. For how that kitchen works, see our guide to the sports bar with fully gluten-free food in Brooklyn.
| Plate | What the menu says | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh clams or oysters | Sold by the piece, six at least | $4 each |
| Guacamole and chips | $13 | |
| Shishito peppers | $13 | |
| Fried pickles | $13 | |
| Garage Wings | Your pick of BBQ, buffalo or mango habanero | $14 |
| Chicken tenders | Honey mustard | $15 |
| Mozzarella sticks | $16 | |
| Shrimp cocktail | $17 | |
| Fried shrimp | Homemade sweet chili sauce | $17 |
| Escargot | Parsley butter, garlic, baguette | $18 |
| Calamari fritti | Homemade marinara, lemon | $20 |
| Bacon mac ‘n cheese | Aged cheddar, roasted crumbs | $20 |
| Chicken nachos | Avocado, beans, jalapeno, mozzarella | $21 |
| Beer Garage Sampler Platter | Fried pickles, calamari, fries and chicken fingers | $36 |
Past the snacks, the menu runs to three personal pizzas at $20 to $28 and the BG’s Famous Burger at $24. At the very bottom, a line invites anyone who wants a full dinner to ask for our “Wild menu”. That one is not posted online, so ask at the bar.
One gap we should own: the menu prints $14 for Garage Wings but not how many come on the plate. Until it does, our per-wing cell stays blank, the same treatment we gave our neighbors.

You need ID showing you are 21 or older to drink at any bar on this page, ours included, even if you came for the food. If the plan is wings and a pitcher, settle who is getting everyone home before the second round.
Gluten-free nachos and bar snacks in Brooklyn: what the menus label
Ask for gluten-free nachos and bar snacks in Brooklyn and most answers are guesses. We can only speak for the menus we read on September 25, 2026, all within a 40 minute walk of 5th Avenue in Park Slope, so this is a Park Slope answer with a Brooklyn question, and we say so.
On those menus, exactly one kitchen labels every plate gluten-free, and it is ours: the Park Slope menu is headed “100% gluten-free”, so the $21 chicken nachos with avocado, beans, jalapeno and mozzarella, the $13 guacamole and chips, the $13 fried pickles and the $36 sampler need no separate question. The nachos at The Dram Shop, The Commissioner, McMahon’s and Park Slope Ale House carry no gluten-free label, which does not mean they contain gluten, only that the kitchen has not said.
Two other labels exist. The Double Windsor marks its “Everything But The Wings” sweet potato plate gluten-free at $11, and Bonnie’s Grill labels a bread swap and a blondie. For the wider case, including our Brooklyn room’s dinner menu, see the guide to a sports bar with fully gluten-free food in Brooklyn and the notes on gluten-free food near Barclays Center.
When each kitchen is open
The hours below are each venue’s own, read on September 25, 2026. Door hours are not kitchen hours: only Park Slope Ale House and The Double Windsor publish when their kitchens stop, so for late food anywhere else, call first.

For wings before an afternoon game, Bonnie’s opens at 9:00 AM and McMahon’s and The Dram Shop at 11:00 AM; we open at 3:00 PM Monday to Thursday and 1:00 PM on weekends. After midnight, Freddy’s, Uncle Barry’s and McMahon’s are open every night, and The Commissioner, Drums & Flats and The Dram Shop on some nights, but none of them publishes a kitchen closing time.
Before you go: three warnings
200 Fifth is closed. The old sports bar at 200 5th Avenue still turns up on some listing and booking sites. It closed in 2020: Patch reported on June 30, 2020 that it would not reopen after the pandemic shutdown.
The LayUp prints no food prices. Its online menu names every snack, including a 4-piece and an 8-piece wing order, but prices only its cocktails and mocktails. Call before you compare.
Black Horse Pub is not on this page. Its website at 568 5th Avenue refused every request we made, so we could not read a menu, and we do not quote prices from review sites.
Pick your plate
Two questions, sixteen answers, all taken from the tables above.
1. When are you eating?
2. What matters most?

Order before we close. We shut at 10:00 PM Sunday to Thursday and 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and no other kitchen on this page says it is gluten-free.

Not on this page, sorry. Every gluten-free plate here stops by 11:00 PM, so order earlier at 148 5th Avenue.
Uncle Barry’s and Drums & Flats, side by side. Drums & Flats sells wings by the hundred and is open until 2:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays; the bar next door stays open until 4:00 AM.
Use the tables above: Freddy’s Bar for price, Drums & Flats for sauces and big orders, Park Slope Ale House for happy hour, and The Beer Garage for a gluten-free kitchen.
How we priced this
On September 25, 2026 we read each kitchen’s menu on its own website, or the menu file its website links to, and copied prices and counts exactly as printed. The per-wing figure is the printed price divided by the printed count, rounded to the cent, before tax and tip. Where a menu gives a price without a count, a price range, or no price at all, the cell is blank.
Walks were measured in Google Maps walking mode from 148 5th Avenue to each door the same day. We did not taste anyone’s wings for this page, so “best” means best for a stated need, not a taste ranking. No venue paid to appear, and our own rows follow the same rules as everyone else’s.
Wings, nachos and a sampler, all gluten-free
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217, entrance on Douglass Street. Open from 3:00 PM Monday to Thursday, 2:00 PM on Fridays and 1:00 PM on weekends.
Our Manhattan room is at 118 Christopher Street in the West Village, 646-490-4301; its kitchen is standard, not gluten-free.
Frequently asked questions

It depends on what you need. For the lowest price per wing at a bar, Freddy’s Bar at 627 5th Avenue charges $10 for six. For the most sauces and orders of up to 100, Drums & Flats at 56 5th Avenue. Which Park Slope bar has the cheapest wings?
Freddy’s Bar at 627 5th Avenue, at six wings for $10, about $1.67 each. Bonnie’s Grill at 278 5th Avenue, a restaurant rather than a bar, lists 20 wings for $32, or $1.60 each, on its own website. Drums & Flats gets down to $1.75 a wing on an order of 100.
Where can I order 50 or 100 wings in Park Slope?

Are there gluten-free wings in Park Slope?
Yes. The Beer Garage at 148 5th Avenue runs a kitchen that is 100 per cent gluten-free, so its $14 wings in BBQ, buffalo or mango habanero are gluten-free, and so are the nachos and the sampler. That is true of the Park Slope location only. None of the other nine menus we read marks its wings gluten-free.
Which Park Slope bar has a wings happy hour?
Park Slope Ale House at 356 6th Avenue prints one: wings for $12 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday to Thursday and from noon to 6:00 PM on Friday, with tater tots and fried pickle chips at $5. The Dram Shop at 339 9th Street also puts four wings on its $7.75 happy hour snack menu, weekdays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday until 3:00 PM, and Saint Eves at 475 12th Street sells wings at $2 each from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, both read September 29, 2026.
Where can I get wings late at night in Park Slope?
Freddy’s Bar at 627 5th Avenue is open until 4:00 AM and McMahon’s Public House until 2:00 AM, every day, and Drums & Flats stays open until 2:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. None of them publishes a kitchen closing time, so call ahead. The Beer Garage closes at 10:00 PM Sunday to Thursday and 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
Where can I get gluten-free nachos and bar snacks in Brooklyn?
On the ten Park Slope menus we read on September 25, 2026, the only kitchen that labels every plate gluten-free is The Beer Garage at 148 5th Avenue, where chicken nachos are $21, guacamole and chips $13, fried pickles $13 and the sampler platter $36. The Double Windsor labels one sweet potato snack gluten-free and Bonnie’s Grill a bread swap and a blondie; no other nachos we read carry a label. We did not read menus outside Park Slope for this page.
The verdict
The best bar snacks and wings in Park Slope are not in one place. Price points to Freddy’s and, if you are buying twenty, Bonnie’s Grill. Sauces and big orders point to Drums & Flats. Happy hour points to Park Slope Ale House, or to The Dram Shop, where it starts at 11:00 AM. And if anyone at the table eats gluten-free, it points to us at 148 5th Avenue, where nothing on the menu needs a second question.
