Game Day · New York City · Updated October 2026
Pick the team first. The borough follows.
Where to watch NHL hockey in New York starts with one question: Rangers, Islanders or Devils? Two of the three teams publish their own list of fan bars, and our two rooms, in Park Slope and the West Village, suit different nights. This is the citywide map for 2026-27.
- 3 local teams, 3 arenas
- 7 official Islanders bars in the city
- Season opened Tuesday, September 29
- Park Slope: 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen
- Neither of our rooms claims a team
New York is a three-team hockey town, and the teams do not share. Rangers fans want to be near the Garden. Islanders fans want a room that will not switch to the Rangers. Devils fans in the city mostly want a screen that will show their game at all.
So this guide to where to watch NHL hockey in New York is organized by team: which arena, which official fan bars, which sports bars name hockey on their own sites, and when our own two rooms are the right call. For neighborhood detail, see where to watch NHL hockey in Park Slope, where to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn and where to watch NHL hockey in Manhattan.
To watch NHL hockey in New York as an Islanders fan, use the team’s own Islanders Bar Network, which lists seven bars in the city, including Overlook at 225 East 44th Street in Manhattan. For any team, Playwright Celtic Pub in Midtown and The LayUp Bar in Park Slope name hockey on their own sites. The Beer Garage in Park Slope suits 7:00 PM ET games and has a 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen.
Only one of our two kitchens is gluten-free: the Park Slope room at 148 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, where the menu header says 100 per cent gluten-free. The West Village room at 118 Christopher Street in Manhattan cooks in a standard kitchen. At both, most of the beer is brewed with gluten grains. We have not checked the kitchens of the other bars on this page, so ask them. If you have celiac disease, talk to the staff and use your own judgment; this is not medical advice.
The short version, by team
Rangers: the team’s Tap Takeover list names regular-season bars in four boroughs, but it may still be last season’s list, so call first; a bar that names hockey, or our West Village room, one train from the Garden, also works. Islanders: use a bar in the Islanders Bar Network; the team says every one of them will play the game. Devils: the Devils’ bar pages were not available when we checked, so call ahead wherever you go. Any team, 7:00 PM ET, over dinner: our Park Slope room, with 180 minutes before a 10:00 PM ET close and a gluten-free kitchen.
Three teams, three arenas
If you want to watch NHL hockey in New York in person, know that only one of the three teams plays inside the city. Barclays Center in Brooklyn no longer hosts the NHL.
| Team | Home arena | By rail |
|---|---|---|
| New York Rangers | Madison Square Garden, Manhattan | Subway to 34 St-Penn Station |
| New York Islanders | UBS Arena, Elmont, Nassau County | Long Island Rail Road to Elmont-UBS Arena |
| New Jersey Devils | Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey | PATH or NJ Transit to Newark Penn Station |
That geography shapes the bars. The Rangers’ Tap Takeover list clusters in Midtown near Penn Station and reaches the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island, but not Brooklyn. The Islanders’ list runs from Midtown out to Brooklyn and Queens.
The official fan bars
Islanders: the Islanders Bar Network
The Islanders publish a bar network on the team’s own site, with a clear promise: “All bars in the Islanders Bar Network will be playing the Isles game.” For Islanders fans who want to watch NHL hockey in New York itself, it listed seven bars in the city on September 21, 2026.
| Borough | Bar | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Manhattan | Overlook | 225 E 44th St |
| Brooklyn | Irish Haven | 5721 4th Ave, Sunset Park |
| Brooklyn | Kent Ale House | 51 Kent Ave, Williamsburg |
| Brooklyn | Bull’s Eye Sports Pub | 2073 Flatbush Ave |
| Queens | One Station Plaza | 213-10 41st Ave, Bayside |
| Queens | Murphy’s Sports Bar | 45-01 23rd Ave, Astoria |
| Queens | The Pour House | 223-01 Hempstead Ave, Queens Village |
The Brooklyn three are covered in more detail, with subway notes, in where to watch NHL hockey in Brooklyn.
Rangers: a Tap Takeover list, plus a playoff list
The Rangers run a regular-season bar program on the team’s site: Tap Takeover locations presented by Michelob Ultra, for nights when fans cannot get to the Garden or the team is on the road. Read on September 22, 2026, it listed 20 bars: 13 in Manhattan, two in the Bronx, three in Queens and two on Staten Island, and none in Brooklyn. The page still speaks of the Centennial season, which was 2025-26, so it may be last season’s list; call before you go. The Manhattan 13 are in where to watch NHL hockey in Manhattan; the other seven are below.
| Borough | Bar | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Bronx | HK Kitchen | 3599 E Tremont Ave |
| Bronx | Rambling House | 4292 Katonah Ave |
| Queens | Murphy’s | 45-01 23rd Ave, Astoria |
| Queens | Bourbon Street | 40-12 Bell Blvd, Bayside |
| Queens | Bohemian Beer Garden | 29-19 24th Ave, Astoria |
| Staten Island | Bravo Pizzeria and Sports Bar | 413 New Dorp |
| Staten Island | Island Social Bar and Grill | 4060 Hylan Blvd |
Separately, the Rangers publish “bar takeovers” for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with Rangers decor and giveaways; that page is not a promise for October. When we read it on September 21, 2026, its Midtown bars included Mustang Harry’s at 352 7th Avenue, Bourbon and Branch at 155 West 33rd Street and American Whiskey at 247 West 30th Street, all near Penn Station.
Two bars appear on both teams’ lists: Murphy’s Sports Bar in Astoria, which is in the Islanders’ network and on the Rangers’ Tap Takeover list, and Kent Ale House in Williamsburg, which is in the Islanders’ network and on the Rangers’ playoff bar list. If your group is split between the Rangers and the Islanders, those are the obvious rooms to call.
Devils
The Devils’ official bar pages returned an error when we checked on September 21, 2026, so we cannot list any Devils bars. To watch NHL hockey in New York as a Devils fan, call ahead wherever you go and name the game.
Sports bars that name hockey on their own sites
Outside the team lists, we looked for city sports bars whose own websites mention hockey or the NHL. Four do. If you want to watch NHL hockey in New York without a team list to lean on, start here.
| Bar | Borough | What its own site says | Published close |
|---|---|---|---|
| Playwright Celtic Pub, 732 8th Ave | Manhattan | Hockey among its sports, on “four floors of wall to wall HD TV screens” | 4:00 AM daily |
| Dave and Buster’s Times Square, 234 W 42nd St | Manhattan | Screens for “football, basketball, and hockey games”; a 40-foot screen | 2:00 AM Friday and Saturday; 1:00 AM Wednesday and Thursday; midnight Sunday to Tuesday |
| The LayUp Bar, 47 5th Ave | Brooklyn | NHL among the leagues in its site description; nine screens with the sound on | 12:00 AM |
| Kilo Bravo, 180 N 10th St | Brooklyn | “We regularly show NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB” | 2:00 AM daily, on its contact page |
One oddity worth knowing: Wogies in the West Village mentions hockey on its site, but the post is about a Philadelphia Flyers playoff run. Good news if you follow the Flyers; less useful if you are in a Rangers jersey.
The local rivalry dates
The season opened on Tuesday, September 29, and the opening week held two of the three local matchups: Devils at Islanders on Saturday, October 3, and Islanders at Rangers on Tuesday, October 6. The third, Rangers at Devils, was played on October 15, and the Devils visit the Islanders again on Saturday, November 7 at 7:00 PM ET. The table adds other key games for all three teams through Tuesday, October 27. Dates and start times are from the NHL’s own schedule data, read on October 21, 2026 and converted from UTC to Eastern Time. The last two columns are minutes from puck drop to closing time at each of our rooms that night, per the beergarageny.com footer.
| Date | Game | Why it matters | Puck drop | Minutes, Park Slope | Minutes, West Village |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday, October 22 | Kings at Islanders | National streaming only on ESPN+, Hulu, Disney+ | 7:30 PM | 150 | 210 |
| Sunday, October 25 | Islanders at Stars | Sunday start | 6:00 PM | 240 | 300 |
| Monday, October 26 | Kings at Rangers | Next Rangers game at Madison Square Garden | 7:00 PM | 180 | 240 |
| Tuesday, October 27 | Islanders at Predators | Late weeknight start, on MSG Sportsnet 2 | 8:00 PM | 120 | 180 |
To watch NHL hockey in New York on Thursday, October 22, settle the team question first. All three local teams play: the Rangers visit the Maple Leafs at 7:00 PM ET on MSG Network, the Devils host the Ducks at 7:00 PM ET on MSG Sportsnet, and the Islanders host the Kings at 7:30 PM ET, a game the NHL’s schedule data lists only on ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+. A bar with one main screen will pick a side. A bar in the Islanders Bar Network has already told you which.
Hockey at our two rooms
If you want to watch NHL hockey in New York with us, we have two rooms, and they suit different hockey nights. Neither claims a team, and neither publishes a screen count.
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue, Brooklyn. Monday to Thursday 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET, Friday and Saturday until 11:00 PM ET, Sunday until 10:00 PM ET. A 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen.
- Best for a 7:00 PM ET game over dinner, and any weekend game.
- Skip if the puck drops at 8:00 PM ET or later on a weeknight.
- Game by game see where to watch NHL hockey in Park Slope.
The Beer Garage West Village, 118 Christopher Street, Manhattan. Our website lists Monday to Thursday 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET and Friday and Saturday until midnight; our Google listing shows different hours. A standard kitchen, 37 beer and cider lines and a heated backyard garden.
- Best for Rangers fans on their way to or from the Garden: the 1 train runs from Christopher St-Stonewall, three minutes away, to 34 St-Penn Station.
- Skip if you need a gluten-free kitchen, which is in Park Slope.
- Possible downside a small room with no booking link. Groups of more than four should call 646-490-4301 first.

You need valid ID showing you are 21 or over to be served at any bar on this page; the New York State Liquor Authority sets that rule. Overtime runs late on a weeknight, so plan the ride home before the third period.
Which bar for your team?
Two questions and sixteen answers for where to watch NHL hockey in New York. Many of them send you somewhere other than here.
1. Who are you watching?
2. Where are you, or what matters most?
Playwright Celtic Pub, 732 8th Avenue. It lists hockey among its sports and is open until 4:00 AM. Our West Village room is one train from the Garden and open until 11:00 PM ET on weeknights per our website; call 646-490-4301 and ask for the Rangers.
The LayUp Bar, 47 5th Avenue. Its site lists the NHL and nine screens with the sound on. For a 7:00 PM ET game with dinner, our Park Slope room is nine minutes from the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station.
Murphy’s, Bourbon Street or Bohemian Beer Garden. All three are on the Rangers’ Tap Takeover list, in Astoria and Bayside. The page may still be last season’s, so call first.
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue. A 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen, and a 7:00 PM ET puck drop leaves 180 minutes before we close on weeknights. Call 718-576-3409 and ask for the Rangers.
Overlook, 225 East 44th Street. The one Manhattan bar in the Islanders Bar Network. The team says every network bar will play the Isles game.
Irish Haven, Kent Ale House or Bull’s Eye Sports Pub. All three are in the Islanders Bar Network. Irish Haven is in Sunset Park, Kent Ale House in Williamsburg and Bull’s Eye on Flatbush Avenue.
One Station Plaza, Murphy’s Sports Bar or The Pour House. All three are in the Islanders Bar Network, in Bayside, Astoria and Queens Village.
Eat with us, watch with them. Our Park Slope kitchen is 100 per cent gluten-free. For a guaranteed Isles game afterwards, Irish Haven is seven stops down the R line from Union St.
Playwright Celtic Pub or Dave and Buster’s Times Square. Both name hockey on their own sites. The Devils’ bar pages were not available when we checked, so ask for the Devils game when you call.
Kilo Bravo or The LayUp Bar. Kilo Bravo in Williamsburg says it regularly shows the NHL; The LayUp Bar in Park Slope lists it too. Name the Devils when you call.
Call ahead. We did not find a Queens bar outside the team lists that names hockey on its own site.
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue. A gluten-free kitchen and weeknight hours that fit a 7:00 PM ET puck drop. We do not claim a team, so call 718-576-3409 and ask for the Devils game.

The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue. For a 7:00 PM ET game over dinner. For the sound on until midnight, The LayUp Bar at 47 5th Avenue.
Murphy’s Sports Bar, 45-01 23rd Avenue, Astoria. It is on both the Islanders Bar Network and the Rangers’ playoff list, which makes it a safe first call.
The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue. Our 100 per cent gluten-free kitchen. We have not checked the kitchens of the other bars on this page.
Use the tables above: Islanders fans have seven official network bars in the city, and Playwright Celtic Pub, Dave and Buster’s Times Square, The LayUp Bar and Kilo Bravo name hockey on their own sites.
How we know this
The fan bar lists on this page about where to watch NHL hockey in New York come from the teams’ own websites, read on September 21, 2026: the Islanders Bar Network and the Rangers’ playoff bar takeovers, plus the Rangers’ regular-season Tap Takeover page, read on September 22, 2026. The Devils’ bar pages returned an error that day. We did not read the listed bars’ own sites for hours.
Game dates and start times come from the NHL’s schedule data for the Rangers, Islanders and Devils, converted from UTC to Eastern Time and cross-checked where two teams share a game. The sports bars were read on their own websites on the dates given in each table. The minutes columns are subtraction from our published closing times and ignore overtime. We visited no bar for this page, and no rating of ours is implied.
