Most lists of gluten-free restaurants in New York mix two kinds of place: kitchens where nothing contains gluten, and kitchens with a gluten-free menu next to a regular one. For someone with celiac disease that difference is the whole question. So this page is about the first kind only, the 100% gluten free restaurant NYC diners can walk into without asking whether the pasta water is shared.

To be on the list, a place had to say it on its own website. Seven did. Three are sit-down restaurants, three are chains with several locations, and one is our own sports bar in Park Slope, which shares 148 5th Avenue with WILD, our sister restaurant next door. We say so up front, and we judge both by the same test as everyone else.

Short answer

The New York restaurants whose own websites say they are entirely gluten-free are Senza Gluten at 206 Sullivan Street in Greenwich Village, Risotteria Melotti at 309 East 5th Street in the East Village, the Modern Bread & Bagel, Little Beet and Springbone Kitchen chains, and two neighbors at 148 5th Avenue in Park Slope: WILD, an Italian restaurant, and The Beer Garage, a sports bar.

For a full Italian dinner, Senza Gluten says its kitchen and dining rooms are strictly gluten-free. For bagels and brunch, Modern Bread & Bagel says all its products are gluten-free and kosher.

What “100% gluten-free” does and doesn’t promise

A dedicated kitchen removes the biggest risk, cross-contact with flour in the same fryer, pot or prep table. It does not tell you how a restaurant checks its suppliers, and it is not a certification: none of the seven sites names a third-party gluten-free certification for its kitchen. If you have celiac disease, the people to ask are the staff, about the dish in front of you, every time.

Nothing on this page is medical advice. Our own gluten-free sports bar in NYC page explains how our Park Slope kitchen works.

100% gluten free restaurant NYC: the seven kitchens

The middle column is each place’s own claim, quoted from its website. Where a site prints no hours, the table says so.

Restaurants in New York City whose own websites say everything they serve is gluten-free, read October 17, 2026. Hours as printed by each place.
Place Where Food What its own site says Hours as printed
Senza Gluten 206 Sullivan St, Greenwich Village Sit-down Italian, weekend brunch “Our kitchen and dining rooms are strictly gluten-free” Monday to Friday noon to 11:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday noon to 11:00 PM; kitchen closes 9:45 PM (9:15 PM Sunday)
Risotteria Melotti NYC 309 E 5th St, East Village Sit-down Italian, rice-based “100% gluten free cooking” Monday to Thursday 4:00 to 10:30 PM; Friday 4:00 to 11:00 PM; Saturday 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM; Sunday 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM
Modern Bread & Bagel Five Manhattan shops: Upper West Side, Upper East Side, West 14th St, Midtown East, Duane St Bagels, all-day brunch, dinner “All products are gluten free and kosher” Brunch 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM; dinner hours vary by shop
Little Beet Six Manhattan locations, mostly Midtown Fast casual bowls and plates “Little Beet restaurants are 100% gluten free” Weekdays 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the locations it lists
Springbone Kitchen Nine Manhattan addresses, plus DUMBO and Williamsburg Fast casual bowls, burgers, broth “No gluten — ever” Not printed on its locations page
WILD Park Slope 148 5th Ave, Park Slope (entrance on 5th Ave) Sit-down Italian, pizza, raw bar, brunch “Our entire kitchen is 100% gluten-free” Monday to Friday 2:00 to 10:00 PM; weekends 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
The Beer Garage Park Slope 148 5th Ave, Park Slope (entrance on Douglass St) Sports bar food: wings, burgers, nachos, oysters Menu headed “100% gluten-free” Monday to Thursday 3:00 to 10:00 PM; Friday 2:00 to 11:00 PM; Saturday 1:00 to 11:00 PM; Sunday 1:00 to 10:00 PM

Two of the seven, WILD and The Beer Garage, have the same owner and the same street number; WILD’s site calls The Beer Garage its sister bar, next door. We include WILD because its own site makes the claim, not because it is ours, and we hold it to the same rule.

Sit-down dinner

Three of the seven are restaurants where you sit, order from a server and stay a while, and all three cook Italian.

  • Senza Gluten, 206 Sullivan Street. Open since 2014 in Greenwich Village, with the clearest safety statement we read: its site says it recognizes the need for “specific and rigorous safety policies”, which is why its kitchen and dining rooms are strictly gluten-free. Brunch runs on weekends from noon to 3:45 PM, with brunch plates from $23 to $29 on the menu we read.
  • Risotteria Melotti, 309 East 5th Street. A rice-based Italian kitchen between First and Second Avenues that describes its cooking as 100% gluten free. Starters are $17 to $19, and even the tiramisu is made with a rice flour sponge cake, $12. It opens at 4:00 PM on weekdays and 11:30 AM on weekends.
  • WILD Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue, Brooklyn. Pizza, pasta and a raw bar, with weekend brunch from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Its site calls it the only 100% gluten-free Italian restaurant in all of Brooklyn, a claim we quote rather than test.

Quick meals and bagels

The other three are counters and chains, which makes them the easiest gluten-free lunch in Midtown.

  • Modern Bread & Bagel. Five Manhattan shops: 472 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side, 1427 3rd Avenue on the Upper East Side, 139 West 14th Street, 630 Lexington Avenue in Midtown East and 130 Duane Street. Its site says every product is gluten-free and kosher, serves all-day brunch from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and prints dinner hours by shop, to midnight from Thursday to Saturday on the Upper East Side.
  • Little Beet. Six Manhattan addresses, including 320 Park Avenue, 135 West 50th Street, 1140 Broadway and 125 Park Avenue, each with weekday hours of 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Its site says the restaurants are 100% gluten free.
  • Springbone Kitchen. Nine Manhattan addresses, from 74 Pearl Street and 90 West 3rd Street to 541 Columbus Avenue, plus 55 Prospect Street in DUMBO and 277 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. Its promise is “no gluten — ever”, alongside no seed oils and no refined sugar. The Brookfield Place branch says it is closed for the season.

A gluten-free drink with dinner

A gluten-free kitchen does not make the beer gluten-free; most beer is brewed from barley. Senza Gluten is the only one of the seven whose menu lists a gluten-free beer: Glutenberg IPA and Glutenberg Blonde, $16 each, plus Original Sin apple cider. WILD advertises a daily happy hour on its site. At our Park Slope bar the drinks list is not published, so call 718-576-3409 and ask what is pouring before you count on a beer. Our guide to gluten-free beer and cider bars in NYC covers where to find gluten-free beer on tap.

Names to cross off older lists

Several names that still appear in celiac guides did not pass the test on October 17, 2026:

  • WILD West Village. The WILD group’s website lists a West Village location, but its location and menu pages were empty when we checked, so we could not confirm an address or hours from the restaurant itself.
  • Erin McKenna’s Bakery. Its locations page lists Los Angeles and Orlando, and no New York shop.
  • Hu Kitchen. Its website now sells chocolate and snacks, with no restaurant listed.
  • TAP NYC. The website address in older guides shows a domain error page.
  • Friedman’s. A favorite of gluten-free diners, but its own site describes it as “gluten free friendly”, not 100% gluten-free, so it is not on this list.

Our Park Slope kitchen, honestly

The Beer Garage Park Slope at 148 5th Avenue is a sports bar first. The game is on, the room is a converted garage, and the menu, wings, burgers, nachos and oysters included, is printed under the heading 100% gluten-free. That makes it the rare place in the city where someone with celiac disease can order bar food during a game without a long conversation. Our page on the gluten-free restaurant scene in Park Slope covers the neighbors that label dishes instead.

Two honest limits. We are a bar, not a restaurant, so we close at 10:00 PM from Sunday to Thursday, and our West Village location at 118 Christopher Street runs a standard kitchen: its menu labels no dish gluten-free. If you want the gluten-free kitchen, come to Brooklyn.

Four picks for four kinds of meal

Each of these is good at one thing, judged on what its own website promises.

Senza Gluten, 206 Sullivan Street. Greenwich Village.

  • Best for a full Italian dinner with the strictest written promise: kitchen and dining rooms strictly gluten-free, and gluten-free beer on the menu.
  • Skip if you are eating late; the kitchen closes at 9:45 PM, or 9:15 PM on Sundays.

Risotteria Melotti, 309 East 5th Street. East Village.

  • Best for risotto and an Italian dessert made with rice flour, on a menu that is 100% gluten free by its own description.
  • Skip if you want lunch on a weekday; it opens at 4:00 PM from Monday to Friday.

Modern Bread & Bagel, five Manhattan shops. Upper West Side to Duane Street.

  • Best for a real bagel and brunch from 8:00 AM, with everything gluten-free and kosher.
  • Skip if you are in Brooklyn; all five New York shops are in Manhattan.

The Beer Garage Park Slope, 148 5th Avenue. Our own room.

  • Best for wings and a game in a kitchen where every plate is gluten-free, with WILD next door for a sit-down dinner.
  • Skip if you need a gluten-free beer list in writing; we have not published our drinks list, so call first.

Celiac disease? Say so when you order

A dedicated kitchen is the safest start, but it still works best when the server knows why you are asking. Tell them you have celiac disease, not a preference, and ask about anything brought in from outside, such as bread, desserts or drinks. Our bar in Park Slope serves alcohol, and anyone ordering a drink needs to be 21 with a photo ID.

Five things to check first

  1. Read the claim, not the review. Many guides call a place celiac-safe because reviewers say so. Every claim on this page comes from the place’s own website.
  2. Chains change. Springbone lists a branch that is closed for the season, and older lists still send people to closed or moved names. Check the location page before you go.
  3. Kitchens close before the door. Senza Gluten’s kitchen closes at 9:45 PM while the restaurant is open until 11:00 PM, and Springbone prints no hours on its locations page.
  4. Beer is the usual gap. Only Senza Gluten lists a gluten-free beer. Ask everywhere else before you order a pint.
  5. Same owner, same rule. WILD and The Beer Garage share an owner and an address. We quote both from their own pages and you should check them the same way you check anyone else.

Find your kitchen

Pick where you are, then the kind of meal. Each of the sixteen answers names a place from this page.

1. Where are you?

How we checked

We started from the names that celiac guides and gluten-free directories list for New York City, then opened each restaurant’s own website on October 17, 2026, including pages that only load in a browser. A place made the list only if its site says that its kitchen, its menu, its restaurants or all of its products are gluten-free. We copied that wording, the locations it lists and the hours it prints. Directory ratings and customer reviews were not used as evidence.

What this page does not do

It does not rank the food, and it is not based on visits by our team. It does not cover bakeries outside the city, or restaurants whose gluten-free menu sits next to a regular one, however careful they are.

No restaurant paid to appear or asked to be left out. WILD Park Slope is our sister restaurant, as stated above.

148 5th Avenue: every plate gluten-free, with the game on

The Beer Garage Park Slope is at 148 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217, with the entrance on Douglass Street. We open at 3:00 PM Monday to Thursday and close at 10:00 PM; Friday runs 2:00 to 11:00 PM, Saturday 1:00 to 11:00 PM and Sunday 1:00 to 10:00 PM.

In Manhattan, The Beer Garage West Village is at 118 Christopher Street, 646-490-4301, with a standard kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

Modern Bread & Bagel says all of its products are gluten-free and kosher. It has five Manhattan shops, at 472 Columbus Avenue, 1427 3rd Avenue, 139 West 14th Street, 630 Lexington Avenue and 130 Duane Street.

Yes. WILD Park Slope at 148 5th Avenue says its entire kitchen is 100% gluten-free, and The Beer Garage next door prints its whole menu under a 100% gluten-free heading. Springbone Kitchen, which says it serves no gluten, has branches in DUMBO and Williamsburg.

Is Friedman’s 100% gluten-free?

No. Friedman’s describes itself on its website as gluten free friendly, which is not the same as a fully gluten-free kitchen.

The verdict

For a 100% gluten-free restaurant in New York, Senza Gluten makes the strongest written promise and the best case for a long Italian dinner, and Risotteria Melotti is the evening alternative in the East Village. For a quick weekday meal, Little Beet and Springbone have the most addresses, and Modern Bread & Bagel is the answer to a bagel. In Brooklyn, 148 5th Avenue has two dedicated kitchens side by side: WILD for dinner, and our bar for wings with the game on.
