Plenty of rooms in this city have a story, a view or a gimmick, and the unique spots for private events in Manhattan below have all three between them. The part nobody hands you is the booking sheet: how many guests, for how long, at what price, and what happens to the deposit.

So on September 28, 2026 we opened the private-events pages of fourteen well-known Manhattan venues outside the West Village and copied what each one actually prints, then read every figure a second time on the live page. Dear Irving Gramercy, a cocktail bar at 55 Irving Place with a Marie Antoinette room, prints a two-hour private open bar at $50 a person for 20 to 25 guests. Frying Pan, a lightship and barge at Pier 66 on the Hudson, prints station menus at $40 a person with a 40-guest minimum, and takes up to 400 on its barge.

For history with printed rules, Pete’s Tavern at 129 East 18th Street lists an upstairs room for up to 44 seated or 65 standing, three hours at most, with a 20 per cent deposit. Fraunces Tavern at 54 Pearl Street, “Revolutionary Since 1762”, lists six rooms from 24 to 120 guests. All read on September 28, 2026.

Which Manhattan venues publish a private event price?

Two of the fourteen we read. Dear Irving Gramercy prints a two-hour private open bar, 5:30 to 7:30 PM, at $50 a person for 20 to 25 guests. Frying Pan prints station menus at $40 a person with a 40-guest minimum. Pete’s Tavern prints its rules, a 20 per cent deposit, 20 per cent gratuity and a three-hour limit, but not a package price.

Which old Manhattan bars host private parties?

Fraunces Tavern at 54 Pearl Street, which dates itself to 1762, lists six rooms from 24 to 120 guests. Pete’s Tavern at 129 East 18th Street calls itself the oldest continuously operating restaurant and bar in New York City and lists an upstairs room for up to 44 seated. McSorley’s, whose site title reads “Oldest Bar in New York”, takes no reservations.

Can you hold a private party on a boat in Manhattan?

Frying Pan at Pier 66, 207 12th Avenue, lists the Lightship Frying Pan for 15 to 175 guests and a barge for up to 400. Lunch and brunch start at 15 guests and dinner at 25, packages are pre-ordered and a deposit confirms the booking. It is seasonal and weather-dependent, by its own homepage.

Which of these venues stay open latest?

By their own printed hours, Slate and the Russian Vodka Room run to 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday, the Russian Vodka Room also on Thursday, and The Dead Rabbit’s taproom to 3:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. Pete’s Tavern and The Campbell close at 2:00 AM every night.

Can I book The Beer Garage for a private event in Manhattan?

Yes, at 118 Christopher Street in the West Village. Our site says we host private parties and corporate events of any size, and the room has a heated backyard garden. We do not yet print a capacity or package for it, so email BeerGarageBK@gmail.com or call 646-490-4301 with the date, headcount and budget, and we will quote in writing.

The verdict

The unique spots for private events in Manhattan are generous with stories and stingy with numbers. Two of fourteen print a price and seven print a headcount. If you want the figure before the email, start with Dear Irving or Frying Pan. If you want history with printed rules, start with Pete’s Tavern or Fraunces.

If what you want is a garden, 37 taps and a bill you can add up from a public menu, come to Christopher Street, and we will put the rest in writing.

Sources and references

The Beer Garage, beergarageny.com (private parties line, garden, hours) and our online ordering menu (drink prices), read September 28, 2026.

Dear Irving Gramercy private events and location page; Frying Pan group dining and homepage, read September 28, 2026.

Pete’s Tavern private events and homepage; Fraunces Tavern private events and homepage, read September 28, 2026.

The Campbell book an event and hours; The Dead Rabbit private event bookings; Bar Goto private events and hours, read September 28, 2026.

Slate special events and homepage; 230 Fifth event space; McSorley’s Old Ale House, read September 28, 2026.

Russian Vodka Room; Tavern on the Green; Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle; PDT, read September 28, 2026.

Google Maps walking mode, from 118 Christopher Street to each venue, measured September 28, 2026.

Marina Charny
Owner, The Beer Garage (Park Slope and West Village)
This guide was written for anyone choosing a memorable room who would rather compare the terms than wait for six replies.
